Wooden fire station at Hohenbrunn - Munich

A wooden house for the fire brigade

Special: In the Bavarian town of Hohenbrunn, a fire station with a new vehicle house and a connecting building to the existing vehicle hall was realised in pure timber construction.

The ventilated façade made of fibre cement and wood

It is not an everyday occurrence that a fire station is built of wood. The apparent contradiction between materiality and use, however, allows for great advantages thanks to the high level of prefabrication in the factory and speed and precision in the on-site execution. The structure was erected in timber frame construction and the façade was partly constructed as vertical floor-to-ceiling timber cladding, partly clad with fibre cement panels. The gable roof remains visible on the underside without cladding. The interior is finished off with a suspended stacked board ceiling.
