A ready-to-occupy office building was constructed for Bormioli Luigi Spa in just six months. The decisive factors in choosing LignoAlp's timber construction method were the speed of realisation and the possibility of climate-friendly construction with wood.
The renowned glassworks from Parma, which specialises in high-quality containers for perfumeries and distilleries as well as tableware made of high-quality glass, has embarked on a strategic path of decarbonisation, specialisation of production facilities and sustainable product and process innovation. By using the renewable raw material wood for the new building, around 287 tonnes of CO2 will be permanently stored.
The new office building with a load-bearing timber structure has an area of 1,000 square metres on 4 levels. The prefabricated timber frame exterior walls were delivered to the construction site with interior panelling, thermal insulation and substructure for the ventilated façade. The ceiling slabs are made of cross-laminated timber and some steel beams were inserted to give the interior spaces flexibility. The exterior walls were prefabricated at the LignoAlp factory and delivered to the construction site already fitted with windows and shading. This enabled turnkey realisation within just six months.
