Hightening school building in solid timber construction

New spaces through wood

High quality: Wood is considered an ideal building material not only because of its durability, but also because of the pleasant and fragrant atmosphere it creates. Especially in schools, the learning environment has an impact on the pupils' concentration and motivation.

In addition, the renewable and sustainable building material wood is one of the most effective and economical climate protection measures of all: even in its installed state, wood binds large quantities of carbon dioxide, which is removed from the atmosphere, and is thus above all an immediately effective climate protection measure. All these factors were decisive for Arch. Siegfried Delueg for choosing wood as the material for the extension of the school. This also convinced the jury of the planning competition, which chose Arch. Delueg's project as the winner.

LignoAlp realised the hightening to the Alexander Langer School in Sterzing using local solid wood, completely free of glue and nails. The exterior cladding of the extension is made of rough-sawn larch wood and gives the building a fresh and traditional character.
