10 storeys in Bolzano—Reaching New Heights with Wood

Seven South Tyrolean companies are constructing a ten-story residential high-rise in Bolzano for the Housing Institute. Upon completion, it is set to be Italy’s tallest residential building constructed using timber.

Construction has begun on the new residential high-rise in Bolzano’s Grieser Auen residential zone. The ten-story building, which will house 35 apartments, is being constructed above ground primarily using timber construction methods. With this project, the Housing Institute is committed to a forward-looking and resource-efficient construction method. The high degree of prefabrication in timber construction enables precise planning and rapid project execution. This shortens the on-site construction time while reducing noise, traffic, and other disruptions for the neighborhood.
