Wooden soccer centre in Bergamo

A place for growth and sport

Glowing: The new youth centre of the Serie A soccer club Atalanta Calcio is part of the wider renovation project of the Bortolotti sports centre in Zingonia (BG). The project in timber construction was realised by LignoAlp as general contractor.

For the new building, LignoAlp was responsible for both the construction phase and, in particular, the implementation planning of the timber construction and the technical installations of the building. On two floors and a total area of 1,610 m², there is space for a large fitness hall, medical and physiotherapy rooms, study rooms as well as offices, meeting rooms, a conference room and an area for TV recordings. Designed, prefabricated and assembled by LignoAlp, the structure consists of a timber frame support system, cross-laminated timber ceilings and a pitched roof with beams in sight. The cantilevered ceiling over 14 metres above the gym was technically solved without intermediate supports by attaching the horizontal structures to two Vierendeel beams integrated into the partition walls on the first floor.
