Extension of guesthouse in wood in South Tyrol

Hospitality between tradition and modernity

Villa Mayr, already mentioned in 1570, is the former summer residence of the famous Hotel Elephant. The current owners, Edith and Robert Burger, have lovingly restored and renovated the house of their ancestors.

Architects Gerhard Bergmeister and Michaela Wolf (bergmeisterwolf) have preserved old building elements and combined them harmoniously with modern structures. The connection between old and new has been preserved and the spirit of the old days has been carefully revitalised. The project has been honoured several times, including with the "best architect 22" award. This prize is one of the most prestigious architectural awards and is an indicator of architectural development in the top segment. Since its inception, the "best architects" award has been recognised as a seal of quality for outstanding architectural achievement.
